The Supreme People's Procuratorate and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) on November 1 released the list of six typical cases, in which the rural women involved received legal assistance, in protecting their land rights, from prosecutorial organs.
Selection of the cases highlighted the achievements of procuratorial organs in protecting rural women's land rights, including protecting the rights and interests of women members (who married to people from other villages) in rural collective economic organizations, and adhering to the fundamental national policy of gender equality. The organs have strengthened supervision over administrative proceedings and enforcement of non-litigation administrative cases, which involve the legitimate rights and interests of rural women. In addition, the organs have properly resolved the disputes through handling the cases with administrative and legal organs. The procuratorial organs have also improved legal supervision work, to help solve the most pressing difficulties, of high concern, to women.
An official of ACWF's Legal Department told media the typical cases set an example of how relevant organs can resolve such cases, which will promote equal participation of rural women in the process of agricultural modernization, and will help rural women share the fruits of rural reform and development.
The official also said the cases would facilitate better implementation of the policy of gender equality and relevant laws and policies, at the grassroots level, and improve the work mechanism for protecting women's rights and interests.
